April 2011. Professor Patti Valkenburg has been appointed distinguished research professor by the Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences (FMG). Valkenburg is the first distinguished research professor at the FMG. She will combine this special position with her professorship in Youth and Media at the University of Amsterdam.
Professor Patti M. Valkenburg has been appointed distinguished research professor by the Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences (FMG) of the University of Amsterdam (UvA). Valkenburg is the first distinguished research professor at the FMG. She will combine this honorary position with her professorship in Youth and Media at the UvA.
By establishing the distinguished research professorships, the FMG wants to honor professors with exceptional research and teaching qualities. Distinguished research professors have made a major contribution to academic innovation and collaboration between different disciplines within the FMG. In addition to further developing her research, Valkenburg is committed to promoting cooperation between researchers and departments in the FMG focusing on youth.

To celebrate her appointment, the symposium ‘Youth, Media and Parenting’ was organized on Thursday, 31 March. On the picture below you see ASCoR director professor Claes the Vreese handing Patti Valkenburg a framed photo of herself. This picture will decorate the newly created 'Wall of Fame' of the FMG.
