Like in previous years, the CCAM group’s research has been awarded with several top-paper awards by the world’s largest communication association, the International Communication Association (ICA). The researchers will receive their awards at ICA’s annual conference held in Chicago in May.
In the Instructional and Developmental Division, Patti Valkenburg and Jochen Peter won the Top-Faculty Paper for their study on how adolescents’ online and offline self-disclosure affects the quality of their friendships. Marjolijn Antheunis, Alexander Schouten, Patti Valkenburg, and Jochen Peter won the Top-3 paper of the Communication and Technology Division for their study on how interpersonal attraction develops on social network sites. CCAM researchers have consistently won Top-paper awards at ICA conferences during the past six years.
