CCAM again awarded at ICA

May 2008. The CCAM group was again successful at the conference of the International Communication Association, held this year in Montreal, Canada.

May 2008. The CCAM group was again successful at the conference of the International Communication Association, held this year in Montreal, Canada.

Marjolijn Antheunis, Patti Valkenburg, and Jochen Peter won the Top-2 paper of the Communication and Technology Division for their study on how users of social networking sites such as Facebook get attracted to each other. In the Mass Communication Division, Jochen Peter and Patti Valkenburg won the Top-Faculty Paper for their study on how adolescents’ use of sexually explicit material on the internet affects their beliefs that women are sex objects. CAM researchers have consistently won Top-paper awards at ICA conferences during the past five years.
