On November 22, Alexander Schouten successfully defended his dissertation entitled "Adolescents' online self-disclosure and self-presentation". In his dissertation, Alexander dealt with the question of how teenagers use various internet applications, such as Instant Messaging and social networking sites, to express and develop their identity. He also investigated how online communication affects adolescents' self-esteem and well-being. The ceremony took place in the Agnietenkapel in Amsterdam.
