Loes Pouwels is a postdoctoral researcher at the Amsterdam School of Communication Research (ASCoR) and the Center for research on Children, Adolescents, and the Media (CcaM). In her research, Loes aims to provide new insights in individual and group differences in youths’ socio-emotional functioning in their online and offline social world. She is a member of Project AWeSoMe, that focuses on individual differences in the effects of adolescents’ social media use on their wellbeing.

Loes obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Pedagogical Sciences (cum laude) at Radboud University in 2011, after which she graduated cum laude from the Research Master Behavioral Science in 2013 (Radboud University). She received a research talent grant from the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO), which gave her the opportunity to start her PhD Project in September 2013. In January 2018, she obtained her PhD title cum laude, after defending her thesis “the group process of bullying, developmental, methodological, and social-cognitive perspectives”. Before she started to work as a postdoctoral researcher at the university of Amsterdam, she worked for one year as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Psychology, Education and Child Studies at Erasmus University Rotterdam.
