Rebecca Wald is a PhD candidate at the Amsterdam School of Communication Research (ASCoR) at the University of Amsterdam. In 2018, she obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Communication Science at Münster University (Germany), and in 2020, she completed the Research Master in Behavioral Science at Radboud University cum laude.
In her PhD dissertation, Rebecca is investigating how Dutch families with young children accept and use virtual assistants, like Google Assistant, Siri, or Alexa. She is particularly interested in understanding the processes behind the adoption of a new technology. The unique context of a family and the intimate space of the home are hereby essential. In her research, she makes use of different methods, ranging from rather traditional ones (i.e., cross-sectional survey designs) to innovative methods of computational nature (i.e., unsupervised machine learning, longitudinal data donation).
