Cynthia Dekker is a PhD candidate at the Amsterdam School of Communication Research (ASCoR) at the University of Amsterdam. Her PhD project focuses on how the deep integration of smartphones into our everyday lives impacts individuals’ daily functioning and (digital) well-being. In particular, she is interested in the role of specific design features such as notifications.

Before starting her PhD in 2022, Cynthia studied Philosophy (BA, Leiden University) and Communication Science (BSc & MSc Research, University of Amsterdam). She is currently also a member of the NeFCA Young Scholars Network Steering Committee.
