Dian de Vries, doctoral candidate at the Amsterdam School of Communication Research (ASCoR) and researcher at CcaM, has obtained a postdoctoral research position within the research priority area communication.
As a postdoctoral researcher, Dian will be leading a new research project entitled Project Self Online. Launched on March 1, 2014, Project Self Online focuses on the effects of online self-presentation (i.e., on Facebook or other social media platforms) on adolescents’ well-being. In this research, Dian will bring together knowledge from communication science, (developmental) psychology, and pedagogical sciences in order to identify which adolescents are most susceptible to the negative influences of social media – for example, those adolescents who receive negative reactions to online self-presentations. Ultimately, the goal of this project is to find ways to provide support to these vulnerable adolescents.
Congratulations to Dian on this important achievement!
