Each year, communication scholars worldwide gather at the annual meeting of the International Communication Association (ICA) to share and discuss new scholarship. This year, research by several of our CcaM scholars is being recognized for research excellence

Dr. Karin Fikkers, postdoctoral researcher at CcaM, has been awarded the Kyoon Hur Top Dissertation Award from the Mass Communication division of ICA for her dissertation “A different(ial) perspective: How social context influences the media violence-aggression relationship among early adolescents”. This dissertation was supervised by Professor Patti Valkenburg and Dr. Jessica Taylor Piotrowski. Karin will receive her award at the business meeting of the Mass Communication division later this month during the annual meeting of the ICA in San Diego, CA (USA).

Dr. Ine Beyens, postdoctoral researcher at CcaM, along with Dr. Jessica Taylor Piotrowski (CcaM Director) and Professor Patti Valkenburg (CcaM Founder) have been awarded a top paper award from the Children, Adolescents, and Media (CAM) division of ICA for their paper “Which Came First? Assessing Transactional Relationships Between Children's Violent Media Use and ADHD-Related Behaviors”. Ine, Jessica, and Patti will be formally recognized at the CAM business meeting later this month during the annual meeting of the ICA in San Diego, CA (USA).

Congratulations to all!
