Staying Safe Online

How do we support children's safety online, particularly in a time where the pandemic necessitates greater reliance on digital technology? In her keynote address, Jessica Piotrowski tried to offer some points for consideration - highlighting opportunities for teachers, practitioners, and media developers.

In the presentation, Piotrowski urged participants to think differently about their approach and interaction with youth - with a focus on "Kids First". In her presentation, she urged participants to:

  • Reconsider Expectations of Effects (differential susceptibility perspective)
  • Reconsider the Concepts We Value (moving away from screentime)
  • Reconsider The Way We Understand and Create Media
  • Reconsider Solutions in the conext of ethics and modern regulations
